PRESENTATION

NIU Student Managed Portfolio

Current NIU Student Managed Portfolio analysts will discuss the fund's origin, structure, and performance.  Additionally, they will highlight exciting initiatives that extend beyond the classroom walls and touch on what their involvement experience has meant to them.

SPEAKERS

Valentina Charria is a senior finance major and a senior analyst for the Student Managed Portfolio.  This summer, she interned as a financial researcher for Atristain Advisors. She is a member of both the Financial Management Association and Investment Association at NIU. Upon graduating in May 2019, she hopes to work in a sales related career. Valentina plans on owning her own business one day.

Matthew Infusino is a senior finance major and has also completed a minor in economics. This past Summer, Matt worked as a finance intern for Baxter International Inc. on the US Medication Delivery Team, and was a junior analyst for the Student Managed Portfolio. This spring, Matt will continue his work as a senior analyst, vice president of Investment Association, and will return as a member of the Finance Student Advisory Board. Additionally, he serves as a peer assistant in the finance department and participated in the CFA Research Challenge. Upon graduation, Matt plans to pursue a role in corporate finance and eventually work in investor relations.

Joseph Muren is a finance major who is starting his second senior semester and is a  senior analyst in the NIU SMP program. He is also a peer assistant for the finance department for all of the core finance classes. With his exceptional analytical skills, he plans to pursue a career in the airline industry in corporate finance or the investment department.

Sergio Pedroza is a senior finance major as well as SMP senior analyst. Sergio is also Treasurer for Investment Association, a mentor for the  METAS program at the Latino Center, and a member of the NIU Men’s Club Soccer team. After graduating in May 2019, Sergio would like to start his career as a financial advisor.

Ben Smith is a senior finance major with an economics minor and is joining SMP this spring in the financial sector. Ben enjoys working with his hands as much as his head and is pursuing a career to match this desire, although his long term goal is to do research in macroeconomics. Ben also serves as an Investment Association board member in recruitment and fundraising.
