Career Development

TMAC President Cathy McGarry will lead a panel of senior treasury professionals through a discussion of each of their career progressions and the obstacles they have encountered in climbing the ladder to success in treasury.



Cathy McGarry, CTP
Cathy McGarry has been a member of TMAC since 2008 and is currently on the Board of Directors as President. Cathy is the Director of Treasury Operations for Northwestern Medicine, a premier academic health system in Chicago. Northwestern Medicine is ranked as one of the top hospital systems in the country by U.S. News & World Report. 

Cathy has successfully spearheaded multiple system implementations throughout her career, resulting in optimized working capital effectiveness and numerous process improvements while utilizing industry best practices. She has achieved many milestones throughout her 20 years of experience in Treasury, specializing in the following areas: banking relationship management, revenue cycle initiatives, AP automation, ecommerce solutions, PCI Compliance, and M&A integrations. 

Cathy holds a MBA from Benedictine University and bachelor’s degree in Finance from Eastern Illinois University.  She is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) and a member of the Association for Financial Professionals.


Angelyn Pennington, CTP
Angelyn Pennington is the Treasurer of Guggenheim Partners, a global financial services firm, where she is responsible for the strategic leadership of the corporate treasury operations. Including implementing and managing the processes and systems that establish controls over money movement, bank accounts, payments, and the travel and entertainment expense reimbursement program. As well as, building partnerships with financial institutions, service providers, and internal business associates.  Angelyn is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) and a past-President of the Treasury Management Association of Chicago (TMAC).  

Rob Gosma, CTP

Robert Gosma became a TMAC member back in 2011 after relocating to Chicago from North Carolina. Robert is currently the Vice President and Treasurer of Donnelley Financial Solutions located in Chicago, IL. Robert has over 15 years of comprehensive treasury experience and has held numerous leadership roles within highly regarded multinational firms including Sara Lee, Hanesbrands Inc., and RR Donnelley and Sons. Robert holds a MBA from East Carolina University and a BBA from Western Michigan University. Robert is a member of The Association of Financial Professionals (AFP) and is a Certified Treasury Professional

Forrest Vollrath, CTP
Forrest Vollrath is the Executive Director of Treasury Operations at Health Care Service Corporation, the fourth largest health insurer in the U.S.  HCSC operates as Blue Cross and Blue Shield in five states: Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.  He led the multi-year transformation of HCSC’s Treasury Operations department and earned the Judges’ Choice Award from Treasury Today magazine for his efforts.  Prior to HCSC, he worked for over 20 years as an accomplished commercial and investment banker for such financial services companies as Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Royal Bank of Scotland, ABN Amro Bank, Northern Trust and Continental Bank.  He successfully completed a variety of complicated financing transactions ranging from capital formation to debt/equity issuances to complete balance sheet restructuring for numerous companies in the healthcare vertical and other industries.  He began his career at Deloitte where he provided M&A advisory services to middle-market companies in the manufacturing and business services space.  Mr. Vollrath holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Colorado, Boulder.  He also earned his MBA in Accounting from the University of Colorado, Boulder.  He is a Certified Treasury Professional.  He currently is a Board Member and Finance Chair for Reading In Motion – a charity dedicated to helping at-risk children in the Chicago Public School System learn to read at grade level by the beginning of the 2nd grade.  He is a former Board Director for the University of Colorado Foundation.
